Shepherd’s Bush Central Line Station

Shepherd's Bush Central Line Station: Site planThe design for the new Shepherd’s Bush Central Line Station forms part of the family of transport infrastructure enhancements to improve public access to the area. Ian Ritchie Architects were commissioned by Chelsfield plc to re- conceive a Master Plan and the architecture for the urban regeneration of approximately 15 hectares at White City, West London, as a regional shopping and leisure destination together with new public transport interchanges, community facilities and housing.

The design intent for the station is to provide a contemporary and elegant entrance structure. A simple, safe, legible organisation connects the existing features of the subsurface part of the station, including those aspects to be modified by the proposals for congestion relief and step-free access forming part of the below ground works to the station.

The new station superstructure establishes an identifiable presence at the western edge of the Southern Interchange on Uxbridge Road and a calmer façade towards the adjacent Shepherd’s Bush Town Conservation Area.
