RSC Courtyard Theatre Conversion
Planning permission was granted on 20th September by Stratford District Council for the conversion of The Courtyard Theatre. The conversion keeps the existing external envelope and auditorium internal structure to provide a new 300 seat studio theatre, two rehearsal rooms and wardrobe, with The Other Place providing an additional rehearsal room and public exhibition space. Rooflights and discreet windows will also be introduced into the building envelope to provide light and river views at the rehearsal room level. The theatre was originally built as a temporary structure with only 5 years planning permission granted in 2005, and then extended to 2012 for the Cultural Olympiad.
