Ian will deliver a keynote lecture at the “Hearts and Minds” themed World Architecture Festival 12-14 November in Miami.
He will explore memory, reason and imagination primarily through explaining the emergence of the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour at UCL as an architecture expressing these three aspects, along with other international examples.
Memory as a factual and active resource, reason providing a rationale for a design philosophy for a science research building, and imagination delivering a physical metaphor beyond the brief as a poetic synthesis of memory, reason and climate translated through imagination.
The lecture will be followed by a Q&A with the Chair, Jeremy Melvin.
