ritchie*studio’s innovative social housing scheme in east Glasgow overlooking Glasgow Green celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
With thanks to all those who participated in the projects’ realisation, notably our client, Thenue Housing Association and fellow design consultants – Arup Engineering, Arup Acoustics, Martin Hallinan – landscape design, DL&E, the artist Jane Kelly, and contractor John Dickie Construction (now John Dickie Homes Ltd.)
The client, Thenue Housing Association was supported by Scottish Homes and Glasgow UK City of Architecture & Design 1999. The project was the only social housing constructed and absorbed into the 1999 programme which sought to celebrate involving people with the design and development of their city.
A recent visit revealed that the ‘outdoor’ rooms are much enjoyed, and in different ways. One tenant commented to a colleague that “We have been very fortunate as it had been wonderful and life changing for my husband and I. Would you please thank the architects.”
