Galway Arts Festival

Previous adjudicators Norman Ackroyd RA and Ian Ritchie RA will be opening imPRESSions ‘Balancing Acts’ at Oranmore Castle, Co. Galway on 9 July 2022 at 6pm.
This exhibition is part of the Galway International Arts festival programme and will be open to the public from 12 to 24 July 2022 12.00 – 18.00 (closed Mondays).
Sioban Piercy and Leonie King have contributed to the Galway International Arts Festival for very many years as the organisers of the imPRESSions Biennial. This international open submission exhibition for original printmaking, which they initiated together in the early 1980s, has become a landmark event for printmakers and a regular feature of the festival. Together they have championed printmaking as an exciting art medium for three decades. Both are consummate practitioners of printmaking themselves and as this is a ‘gap’ year between Biennials, these two artists are making it an opportunity for a long overdue focus their own art practice. They have chosen the historical Great Hall of Oranmore Castle in County Galway as a venue to site a collection of their recent work.
