SAUL-Katowice 25–27 November 2021

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Metropolis GZM, Silesian Voivodship, Society of Polish Town Planners Silesian Branch and Association of Polish Architects (SARP)/Branch Katowice have organised the 3rd International and Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference – Senses in Architecture, Urban Landscaping and Design, 25th – 27th November 2021 in Katowice-Gliwice, Poland and on online.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Wise City – A Passing Fad or an Answer to the Anthropocene Heritage?’ Ian Ritchie is invited as Guest Speaker and will deliver his lecture ‘Architecture Meets Philosophy Meets Art Meets Neuroscience’ on Friday November 26th.

The talk will focus on the research undertaken and the design of the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour, and the collaborative exchanges between the architect and two key client/users – an experimental neuroscientist John O’Keefe, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine in 2014, and theoretical neuroscientist Peter Dayan who was awarded the Brain Prize in 2017.
