ritchie*studio is delighted to be participating in Open-City Architecture in Schools 2021 and are partnered with Clapham Manor Primary School.
Year 4 students and staff will visit the Royal Academy of Music and will participate in two design workshops in October and November, led by the practice, to create a portfolio of work and an architectural model in response to the Open-City Architecture in Schools design brief ‘A celebration city’.
Classes can then submit their portfolios and models to an inter-school competition. Their work will be displayed at Canary Wharf’s Crossrail Place Roof Garden throughout the Christmas holidays and classes will be invited to a celebration event held at Canary Wharf ’s East Wintergarden Hall.
Architecture in Schools is a creative and cross-curricular programme for primary school pupils in years 4, 5 & 6. The programme aims to train teachers on how architecture and related subjects can be used to teach a variety of core subjects including Art, Design, Numeracy, Literacy, Geography and Science whilst improving children’s drawing, model-making, communication and problem- solving skills. The aim of the programme is to inspire the next generation of city-shapers and for participants to understand how architecture and design informs the world around us.
