Crystal Palace Concert Platform

ritchie*studio is delighted to support the Crystal Palace Park Trust in the design of enhancement works to the Crystal Palace Concert Platform.

In September 2023, the Trust became the park’s custodian, taking over this responsibility from the London Borough of Bromley, and is devoted to its long-term maintenance and improvement as a vibrant ecological, recreational and historic resource.

The Concert Platform is a music and creative base for the wider community located in Joseph Paxton’s English Garden area of the park. The intention is to ensure its use all-year round. A new stage surface was installed in July 2022, and the next phase of works aims to modernise the backstage area and improve access to the venue.

ritchie*studio (formerly Ian Ritchie Architects) won the competition for the design of a permanent concert platform in Crystal Palace Park in 1996 and are thrilled to be working again with the original structural and services engineers for the Concert Platform, Atelier One and Atelier Ten.
